Logistics and Freight in the time of COVID-19

At AGI Global Logistics, our number one priority is the safety of our staff and customers. We’re continuing to provide full service to all our valued clients, as we all adapt to a different way of working in our logistics world, in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. Here’s what we’re doing to ensure we can continue to support businesses during this time. The situation is changing rapidly, and we’ll look to update you on a regular bases.

Due to the unforeseen ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, AGI Global Logistics has had to make some changes to the way that we work. We are continuing to work hard to support customers and all offices remain fully operational. However, as it’s taking a global effort to tackle the outbreak, the spread of the coronavirus has affected the shipping industry in unprecedented ways. In particular for Air freight with very low numbers of aircraft operating, due to severe drop in passenger numbers. Furthermore with country boarders now very vigilant this is effecting the road and sea freight operation too. With the Covid-19 outbreak, this has also affected the shipping industry with added restrictions and inevitable delays on occasions, with receiving or sending shipments internationally and domestically.

The following information outlines some of the measures we have implemented at AGI Global Logistics, along with our trusted partners. Social Distancing – When signing and receiving deliveries, all carrier partners have implemented the change to support social distancing. Health and safety is our biggest priority, and this measure minimises the risk to both customers and drivers.

Drivers in particular for courier movements, will no longer be required to ask for signatures and will instead ask for and record the surname of the customer. This signature will be recorded as “COV” or “CV” in most instances. International Travel – AGI Global Logistics recommends resistance to international travel currently.

Meetings – We’ve made some changes to our schedules, the majority of company meetings have been delayed or revised to Team or Zoom meetings. Should you wish to have a meeting with one of our team members, we have the IT platform in place to set up, and would be delighted to arrange on your behalf. Simply drop us a line and we’ll get the ball rolling and forward a suitable invite for an agreeable time and date.

Employees – We have developed a ‘Work from home’ Emergency Contingency Plan which has been implemented successfully throughout for many employees to guarantee their safety. Some of which continue to take advantage of this. We will continue to monitor government guidelines and alter arrangements accordingly. For those that are now back in the offices, we have made the surroundings as safe as possible, with all the relevant PPE equipment on hand. Rest assured, we will continue to adapt and ensure full capability to handle all your logistics needs via phone, email or other means. It’s business as usual on that front, just a little more challenging at this present time.

Keep safe!
